Shrimp Jesus is the original Facebook engagement bait phenomenon, an AI-generated image of Jesus Christ fused with a shrimp that went viral across Facebook pages in 2023 and collectively broke something in the internet's brain. This particular specimen is operating at full power: half underwater split shot composition, anatomically detailed shrimp legs, serene messianic expression, golden light on the horizon. Whoever prompted this understood the assignment completely. The reason Shrimp Jesus spread so far is that Facebook's algorithm rewards engagement regardless of content, and nothing generates more confused clicks than a photorealistic crustacean with the face of a savior. People liked it. People shared it. People asked if it was real. The answer is no. The shrimp is also not real. Nothing about this is real and yet here we all are.
